Hazleton Shooting Victim Taken To Lehigh Valley Hospital: Police

A man was wounded from a gunshot to his right index finger as he was in the area of Alter Street and 17th Street on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, according to the Hazleton City Police Department.

The man was treated at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton for the non-life-threatening wound and later released, police said.

Police responded to a notification from the Raven Gunshot Detection System that shots were fired in the area of Alter and 17th streets. When they arrived on the scene, they found numerous shell casings along 17th Street. A vehicle that was parked nearby was found to have bullet holes. 

As police were investigating, they were notified of the gunshot victim.

The Hazleton City Detectives Division was called in to process the scene. This is an ongoing investigation, police said.
